RadioEPG

The RadioDNS project describes RadioEPG as following:

“RadioEPG allows the broadcaster to publish information on the various ways that the radio station can be received, and more information about the station and its programme schedules. This allows service-following, where a radio could use information in RadioEPG to switch automatically between streaming and FM radio (and back again); and a “universal preset” which could find your station anywhere; as well as logos and more information about your station.”

What are the advantages of service following?

Image you go by car from Hamburg to Munich. You are listening to your local radio station and move outside the antenna range. The signal will become weaker and weaker and finally you will hear nothing but static.
With service following the radio device always tries to find the transport with the highest available quality, e.g. IP streaming, and automatically switches to it.
By doing this it is possible for you to listen to your favorite radio station at any time and location, like you would expect and wish for.
